Description:

It’s a 1982 924 with a solid roof panel (never had a sunroof).

Yellow with blue cup alloy wheels, bumpers & mirrors and Toyo 888R tyres.

Full roll cage with HANS bar.

Pair of OMP race seats (2nd seat for driver training or passenger rides(!) - and I took it out for racing).

Sabelt HANS drivers 6 point harness in blue (might still be in date).

OMP non-HANS 6 point passenger harness in red (out of date for racing but mint condition as not used much).

Removable Momo racing steering wheel.

Driver footwell chequer-plate.

Push-button start with knock-off and separately switched fuel pump and electric fan for radiator (I replaced the radiator and added capillary oil and water temp sensors and gauges to be sure I could spot any potential overheating issues during a race - but never had any problems).

BRSCC Porsche Championship engine & suspension spec with high lift cam/vernier adjustable pulley/big throttle body and spacer/fuel drain/sample valve etc.

I had all the adjustable dampers refurbished by Gaz.

Stainless steel race exhaust system.

Solid race engine mounts.

Hard wired race transponder.

Dyno tested at 135bhp with good power band right through the Rev range.

Corner weighted for me at 90kg at approx 1040kg (so car approx 950kg).

Was spitting flames at Castle Combe and handles great with 50/50 weight distribution!

Finished 4th in class at Combe, 3rd at Brands and 2nd at Silverstone - so was aiming for the top step next - just all got screwed up by Covid, lockdowns and the economic situation with work since - which means I’ve not been able to race it for a couple of years…

Only ever had 2 DNFs - one when the distributor died (subsequently changed to the Bosch electronic ignition) and one when the fuel pump died (new pump fitted).

A couple of battle scars and fire extinguisher update to larger bottle with more nozzles for MSUK regs changes need sorting - but fundamentally it’s a really good and competitive car.

Originally built by Fred Henderson who came 3rd as an independent in the RAC Rally back in the 1970’s in a Mini Cooper he built himself - and he also provided Colway Tyres to the original Porsche 924 Championship and had the contract for many years for providing recovery vehicles for Croft racing circuit through his garage and breakdown business.

Had all my work done by Clive Morison of Moluto in Stockport - who supported a number of drivers in the BRSCC Porsche Championship and now the CALM All-Porsche series - and can verify that it’s a good car.

I’m looking for £5000 or very near offer - which takes into account the prep work needed to get it back racing - and have a second set of Compomotive race wheels and Toyo 888 tyres which could be included for the full asking price.
