The MARCOS MANTARA LM600 EVO is a true Dutch racecar, built in Venlo by EUROTECH Viking Engineering. A FIA homologated evolution made by some smart minds on it’s predecessor, that was introduced by MARCOS in 1993…

MARCOS was founded back in 1959 in North Wales, building lightweight cars using plywood chassis. The street cars where perfectly suited for use on race tracks, giving Marcos soon a racing heritage. Originally this lasted until 1971, when the company stumbled onto financial problems. Jem Marsh stayed in the car business, and bought back the rights to the Marcos name in 1976. He resurrected the Marcos brand in 1981, offering the previous GT cars as kits. In 1992 Marcos left the kit car business, all cars from this point onwards being factory built, and launched the Marcos Mantara. In October 1993 Marcos unveiled its new competition car and announced a return to GT racing, including Le Mans. Based on the Mantara, the cars were designated LM400, LM500 and LM600. After some successes in the British GT championship in 1994, Marcos won it in 1995, 1996 and 2000. In 1999, the Marcos racing business was sold to longtime GT sponsor Eurotech, a Dutch engineering firm. By that time, all Marcos racing cars and road car chassis were built in the Netherlands, with road car assembly completed in Westbury by a much-reduced staff.

This specific car, with chassis no. SA9BMMXXWXK050913, was built by EUROTECH Engineering. Following a significant investment, Wiet Huidekoper (of Porsche GT1 fame) was commissioned to take the existing LM600 GT2 as a starting point and design this LM600 EVO.  Huidekoper developed an entirely new tubular chassis around a mid-mounted Chevy LS6, and a light yet very strong driveline featuring an aluminum torque tube, transaxle and Hewland 6 speed transmission. Obtaining a official FIA GT homologation (No. GT10, with extension 01/01 VO, 02/01 ET and 03/01 ER) cleared the way to participation in all global GT races.

Only 4 of these LM600 EVO cars where built. This one was completed in 2000 and was sold to Cor Euser, who raced it under his Marcos Racing International team. It saw action in the FIA GT, Spanish GT, EURO GT and BELCAR as well as the 24 hours of Daytona in 2001 and 2002.

After a major crash at the end of 2004 at Spa, Eurotech bought back the car and completely rebuilt and upgraded the car. It was again entered in 2006, under the Eurotech flag with drivers Marc Goossens, Danny van Dongen and team owner Wim Noorman in the BELCAR series. And with result, scoring no less than 5 out of 6 podiums, against others such as the amazing Corvette C5-R’s. After this they retired the car and put it into storage.

The current owner bought the car in 2017, complete with all of the spare parts, chassis moulds, technical drawings, surplus of build stockage etc. as the company stopped it’s interest in the program. They stripped the car down to it’s bare chassis, rebuilding it again from the ground up with all new components, but leaving the body untouched. All fuel, oil and brake lines were renewed, new fuel cell, pumps and filters, full engine and gearbox rebuild, crack-check of the suspension and so on make this car in perfect condition, ready to run again in Peter Auto events or the Masters Endurance Legends series.

The car is for sale with all of it’s impressive spare parts package.
