Airstream has been viewed as the premier coach builder in the American recreational home business since Wally Byam started manufacturing his unique Silver Bullet caravans in 1932. Their space age designs and aerodynamic forms have defined the travel industry.

 In 1969, upon their return from the Moon, the crewmen of Apollo 11 were quarantined in the Mobile Quarantine Facility, a modified airtight Airstream trailer, until it could be determined that there was little likelihood of their having brought back lunar pathogens with them.

For decades, NASA has used a fleet of Airstream motorhomes to transport astronauts to the launch pad. The space shuttle program used a modified 1983 Airstream Excella dubbed the Astrovan.

Airstream started manufacturing Class A motorhomes using its lightweight, aerodynamic and very strong construction method for the fuselage in 1974. 

This 1990 350LE version is built on a high speed Chevrolet coach chassis and  is one of the last of the Classic aircraft style semi-mono-coque aluminium frame and skin construction. This motorhome is surprisingly easy to drive with light steering, good stability, responsive auto transmission with Overdrive , cruise control and a quiet and powerful Chevy 7.5 lltr V8. It can cruise all day at the legal limit, with surprising economy for its size due to te aerodynamics. It can also easily tow a car transporter. Without the trailer it is rated at 7,500kg so can be driven on pre 1997 car licences which include C1 catagory.

This spectacular vehicle attracts attention wherever it goes and with its modern updates is as practical and useable as any modern motorhome and is particularly at home in the classic motor racing paddock.

This Classic Airstream has been fully restored in the UK by LAS Motorhomes of Northampton, at a cost of circa £120,000

The quality of the interior puts to shame most modern motorhomes and features original hardwood furniture and fittings, the internal sructure has been relined in "ostritch skin" and the soft furnishings and seats have been re-upholstered in leather by Oxted Trimming, who specialise in aircraft and helicopter interiors. 

The luxurious modernised interior includes solid oak flooring, Corian worktops, bespoke drinks cabinet, twin Aircon units, hot air heating, memory foam full size double bed, new flatscreen TV’s, entertainment and audio, power front seats and sofa.

The aluminium fuselage has been painstakingly striped and re-lacquered to a very high standard.

The less visible work included new wooden under floor, rewiring for 240v, chassis under sealing, re- plumbing, refurbishment of the running gear including new front adjustable airbags, brakes, new overdrive unit.

This low mileage Airstream Classic Coach has done 69,153 miles 111,291 km and is in very good conditionith and has been regularly maintained by LAS Motorhomes.

DESCRIPTION / FEATURES: This unit stands just over 10’ tall including the two roof A/C units as does the 7.0 KW Onan Generator. 2 LP furnaces (and a 105Lb. Propane tank) keep the unit nice in the coldest weather, and plenty of fresh water (80 gal.) and large holding tanks (40/45 Gal.) allow you to dry camp a weekend or so without hook ups. Recent audio/ video and stereo upgrades, 2 LCD televisions with modern roof mounted electrically folding satelite dish, DVD player, AM/FM/CD player and more, like cedar lined lighted wardrobes, docking lights, 3 way fridge, great shower, 6 GAL & LED electronic lighting,  original back up camera, heated mirrors, 4 automatic leveling jacks, power step, 2 NEW Coach batteries, China toilet with sprayer, Skylights, safe, exhaust fan, fantastic fan,  water hose reel, nice big windows with day/night shades, new curtains, new front air bags, automatic adjusting air suspension on the Tag Axle, recent tyres with almost full tread, halogen running lights, touch pad door entry and storage bay locking system , really there is just too much to describe it all.
