BENETTON FORD/COSWORTH B187 F1 CAR - EX THIERRY BOUTSEN

Chassis B187-06 has by far the most extensive race history of all the B187 chassis, having entered ten races in the hands of Thierry Boutsen during the 1987 season, incredibly without receiving any crash damage whatsoever. It's also the only B187 to have the unique Boutsen/Fabi twin pedal assembly arrangement still in place. Retaining its original race engine, gearbox and kevlar bodywork, it's believed to be the only B187 chassis to remain 100% complete. 

The Rory Byrne designed B187 was considered a true front runner during the 1987 season, regularly beating the likes of McLaren, Williams and Ferrari. 

At the end of the 1987 season the car was placed into a collection of F1 cars in Australia, where it remained until 2007 when it was shipped back to the UK where it was kept in storage until we acquired it in 2022.

It's currently in the final stages of a full rebuild in readiness for forthcoming events. It's been invited to several events, such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Members meeting, along with requests for high speed Historic F1 demonstrations at selected F1 races. We've been in contact with Thierry Boutsen to ask if he's willing to demonstrate the car. He was more than enthusiastic about getting back into, what he say's was his favourite F1 car. The engine and gearbox have just been built by renowned F1 specialists Geoff Page Racing. It will run on a LIFE engine management system, which will greatly improve the usability, reliability and lifespan of the engine. Due to the advances in engine management technology these iconic turbo era F1 cars are now becoming increasingly popular having been considered very undervalued for sometime.
