2001 Prototype Car Designs – S1100 “Saxon” chassis 01
Offered for sale; the original PCD Saxon hill climb single seater, designed by former Lotus F1 Chief Designer Martin Ogilvie and the forerunner to the mighty GWR Predator Arrows V10 and giant-killing motor-bike engined GWR Raptors. Only one other Saxon chassis was built, now residing in a motor museum in the US.
Carbon fibre pre-preg monocoque chassis, bulkheads and nose-cone. Carbon fibre pre-preg Front wing assembly, rear dual-plane wing, side-pods and damper cover. GWR-built pre-preg flat-floor with integral diffuser and tunnels.
Push-rod operated double wishbone suspension front & rear, Modified Eibach F3 front mono-shock damper, highly modified Dynamics Dampers remote-reservoir 3-way adjustable rear dampers, custom valved by Mick Gardner Racing.
PCD-designed fully certified ROPS, OMP Dyneema ultra-lightweight 6 point harnesses, valid until end of 2022.
Fitted with a highly developed Suzuki GSXR1100WP motorcycle engine by Mike Parry & Andy Colbourne at Race Techniques. Approx. 175 wheel HP. Lightened/balanced crank with external-starter drive modification, Corillo rods, J&E pistons, Full-hillclimb-spec cylinder head porting/flow with custom-made stainless valves, titanium springs & retainers, modified buckets and shims, bespoke cam grinds and adjustable cam wheels and Hall-effect cam position sensor & trigger. Close-ratio custom Nova Racing super-finished under-cut 6 speed gear cluster with up-rated output shaft and tool-steel shift shafts, High accuracy gear position sensor for paddle-shift control. All engine internals superfinished, Magnesium external casings and titanium fasteners throughout. PCD-designed plate LSD in bespoke housing with Beagle Engineering drive shafts.
Engine & gearbox managed by a DTAFast S100 ECU including 4 wheel speed sensors, launch & traction control, wide-band lambda, cam position and data logging. Clutch-less auto-blipping fully pneumatic paddle-shift gear change with onboard compressed air storage. Thin-wall ceramic-coated 4-2-1 exhaust system, custom designed tuned-volume airbox with heavily modified Hayabusa throttle bodies, Bosch Pico injectors, individual Suzuki coil-on-plugs and bespoke motorsport wiring harness. Mapped and run on Renegade TS102 MUK/FIA compliant fuel.
GWR pre-preg carbon steering wheel with integrated XAP dashboard on SPA quick release, OBR paddles, launch & traction control multi-turn switches, pit-lane speed limiter / tyre warming button and neutral lock-out switch.
Car comes complete with 3 sets of bespoke PCD 3-piece split-rim wheels (2x sets with A92/A592 Avon slicks and 1x set hand-cut A92 wets), spare nosecone/front wing & hanger (used once), fully-fitted fleece-lined custom car cover. Two external starter assemblies with battery trollies included.
Numerous additional spares (most new & un-used) including; full set of wishbones, push-rods, steering arms, steering rack/pinion, dampers, brake calipers, discs and pads (new un-used).
I’ve owned and developed the car over the past 10 years in close consultation & collaboration with Martin Ogilvie and Graeme Wight Junior (GWR), resulting in a highly competitive 1100cc class hillclimb car capable of competing head-to-head with the modern crop of carbon single seaters in both the British and Scottish Hillclimb Championships.
