This is now SOLD. Search for similar items.
Description:
Davrian stilleto Imp raced by Charles Barter, in which he won the British Hillclimb Championship. Later sold to Angus Robertson, who won the Scottish Hillclimb Championship. This unique car is an outstanding example of the special saloons silhouette class (rules the hillclimb championship also applied), always draws a crowd, and has a truly fantastic history.
The car was subject to a nut and bolt rebuild, to its historic specification, in 2010-12, including strip back and repaint of shell to championship winning period livery The car has since been maintained to the highest, money no object, standards over the past 10 years.
The car has a full race hartwell imp 1040 engine. Handling is sublime and a reflection of its 405kg weight (some 40kg less than the maguire imps) and attention to detail that this car recieved when originally commissioned and when this was retained and renewed in the restoration.
Was raced occasionally within the CSCC Special Saloons & Modsports between 2013-2019. The car is one of the standout members of the cscc special saloons grid and would also be welcome back on the hill - where it began its life so successfully. During ownership i have recieved invites for various demo events in it e.g. chateau impney, carfest, etc....
Genuine reason for sale - fully focusing on caterham racing for the next few seasons.
The wesite link below provides a brochure for the car which includes the full specification and history. The car was very advanced for its time (its a aluminium honeycombe and fibreglass monoque) and has some lovely engineering incorporated in it (two small rads in each of front wings behind the headlights ensure the front scoop is clear to provide downforce). Comes with good running spares package and historic race programmes where the car features etc...
