Swift SC92-1 Formula Ford - 1992 1600

A well known car, that is in fine condition.

SC92 chassis number 1, as previously owned by Simon McBeath, famously featured in a three part article in Racecar engineering describing Simon’s work at the MIRA wind tunnel to investigate the possibility of improving the aero dynamics of the car.

Simon was successful - reducing drag by around 13% - I can forward scans of the article and original copies of the three Racecar Engineering magazines are included.

SC92-1 has been run very successfully in Hillclimbs, previously holding the class record at Gurston Down and has also been a strong competitor in the Midland Hillclimb Championship, achieving second place in 2018 and 2019, with different drivers.

The car is in Pre94 Formula Ford Racing trim, ideal for hillclimbing or on the circuits. The 6 point harness is in date and a full fire extinguisher system is fitted.

The car runs well - the engine is strong, pulls well and is mated to a Hewland LD 200 gearbox box.

It is currently running the modified bodywork, as prepared by Simon, with a full spare set of standard side panels, side pods and engine cover also included.

Apart from the bodywork there are a whole host of additional spare parts included with the car; spare Hewland ratios, various rear springs, wishbones, track rods, uprights, calipers and tyres.

Also included are three 12v batteries -all fitted with mini Anderson plugs for easy changing, if required. The car is fitted with a dry break fuel bleed tap and also included is a 12v remote fuel pump for fuel extraction so that you can optimise the fuel levels in the car.

Tyres are good. New front brake calipers and pads all round plus brake master cylinders fitted in 2019. New clutch master cylinder, clutch plate, pressure plate and thrust bearing plus new slave cylinder seals fitted October 2020. Minimal usage since.

Car is well set up for the hills now utilising the adjustable shocks, the last set-up being done in October 2020. Included is a large file of notes, receipts and history, with all settings fully detailed.

The cockpit is quite flexible, allowing a more generously proportioned driver… in addition there are a whole host of extra seat pads and inserts to enable those frustratingly waif like individuals to fit snugly too.

The car has an MSUK Log book and ROPS certificate and a high quality fully waterproof custom made car cover is also included.

So, this is one of the best, most sorted pre94 FormulaFords available. Proven to be competitive and on the button.
