Description:

RH Classics is delighted to present this RHD BT7 Mk 1 with period and current competition history on behalf of one of most treasured friends from across the pond.

An extremely well-developed car offering a number of routes into historic motorsport; a fast road, ready prepared entrant to Hillclimb and Sprint events or an ideal basis for FIA HTP certification.

Shipped stateside from new and according to the current custodian, from 1962 onwards has been a regular entrant in Mid West and West Coast club racing, owned for the last 20 years by a well-respected racer and restorer.

Competed in the Vintage Sports Car Drivers’ Association and Gladiator Road Racing series where the car is a regular and highly placed entrant at Willow Springs, Laguna Seca, Sears Point, Aspen, Mountain View, Steamboat Springs, South Creek Raceway, Palm Springs, Monterey Pre-Historics and Road America Elkhart Lake among others, documented in the accompanying Race Log.

As a dry state Healey, it benefits from a highly original structure that’s never been repanelled; the floors, inner & outer sills, rear wings, bulkhead, rear cowl, boot lid and bonnet are all original and intact. Finished in period Lobelia Blue with matching 6J Cobra wires and a desirable works hard top, this is a very purposeful looking car that goes as well as it looks and has been reconfigured in RHD.

Continually developed over the last 20 years, the current mechanical specification is as follows:

  • 240 bhp at the flywheel
  • Block bored to +0.62 and fitted with forged JE pistons
  • Custom designed camshaft
  • Micro-polished and zero-balanced crank
  • Ported cylinder head with triple carbs
  • Rudge inlet manifolds
  • Straight cut box with Sebring ratio’s
  • Quaife differential
  • Upgraded suspension with spherical bearings
  • High ratio steering box
  • 3 piston front brakes
  • Lightened and stiffened body, with front wings in alloy, plus much, much more!

Described by its custodian as ‘a lovely car, well set up, well equipped and in top condition’ we couldn’t have put it better ourselves.

UK registered and prepared, inspected and ready for use.

In summary, this is a well presented, structurally superb, highly developed fast road Healey with significant history of Club racing in the ‘States that provides a cost-effective basis for conversion to FIA HTP.

The car has arrived and is now in final preparation for sale, available for viewing at our rural workshops, located just outside Melton Mowbray in Twyford, Leicestershire.

With grateful thanks to Bill Nesius Photography for kindly allowing us to reproduce his wonderful action shots of the Healey.
