Description:

Fantastic car! So fun to drive. She slips gently and gives great sensations.” Fred Bouvy (multiple Belgian Champion and double winner of the 24h of Spa-Francorchamps) - Spa Classic by Peter Auto - 19th May 2018.

I sell with regret my 1996 Ferrari F355 Challenge.

I bought a first F355 Challenge for track days, 20 years after my last karting race. I quickly regained my sensations and I regularly reached 2'43 at Spa-Francorchamps without taking the slightest risk in “Eau Rouge” and “Blanchimont”. My best lap is in 2’41 and she will go far under 2’40 with a real pilot.

She is an extraordinary car to drive to the limit, with a natural glide and the pleasure of heel-and-toe braking, while always remaining reassuring and easy to control. It's also funny to see the owners of 458/488 Challenge coming around my car, a bit admiring, saying they saw me "dancing" on the track.

Today it is possible to find a 458/488 Challenge for sale for around the same price. These are impressive cars in terms of acceleration and braking, but very difficult (and even dangerous) to use at the limit and extremely (!) expensive to maintain.

My F355 Challenge cost me an average of €600 per hour of driving, all inclusive (slick tyres is the most expansive, pads, discs, maintenance, belt change, small repairs) and I can have fun to drive at the limit without scaring myself.

And then there is the pleasure of the eyes! She has a natural beauty that makes her exceptional. Professional photographers tell me so.

Not to forget: she makes a crazy noise, with its gurgling noises when braking and its revving up to 8.500 rpm. A natural noise that contrasts with the artificial noise of modern cars.

It's also the latest manual gearbox racing Ferrari with the famous aluminium grid (except for some very expensive one-offs), which certainly makes it a future collector's item.

In short, it's a car that I love and with which I've taken a lot of pleasure.

Note that I sell also my other F355 Challenge, a very rare road registered model. Here is the link:

F355 Challenge VIN 104522

  • One of the 106 factory built F355 Challenge. Probably one of the maybe 10 still in a really good condition, regularly driven and constantly maintained by Ferrari’s professionals.
  • 1996 model. 18.500 km. Red interior black. 8 cylinders 380 cv / 280 kw.
  • Bought new in 1996 by Jean Blaton, a famous Belgian businessman and pilot known as "Beurlys" for his exploits in Le Mans in the 1960s.
  • Raced in the European Challenge by Fouad Mejjati in Jean Blaton's team and maintained by the famous Garage Francorchamps, historical importer of Ferraris in Belgium.
  • Bought by the d’Ansembourg family (historic Formula 1 driver) for track days and maintained at that time by Gipi Motor, a garage internationally recognised for its expertise in historic Ferraris.
  • The car is till now regularly driven and perfectly maintained, which is very rare among the F355 Challenge cars on sale. She is ready to race (except that the seats are not FIA) or for track days.
