1968 FORD ESCORT MKI

This 1968 English Ford Escort MKI is being sold on consignment. The Escort has been part of a collection owned by a gentleman here in North Florida.

OWNER’S DESCRIPTION:
This Ford Escort MKI was built in October of 1968 by Ford of England, and was sold to David Sutton, a local dealer in England, for a Canadian customer, Bob Tanner. 

Bob, a high school vocation teacher, prepared and entered the car in Trans AM races in Canada and the U.S., including Mont Tremblant and Watkins Glen events in 1969, ’70, ’71, and ’72. The car was first registered with the CASC in 1969 and has been a race car for its entire life. The third owner, David Glead, campaigned the car until 1985. 

The car is equipped and sold with a 1850cc “Twin Cam” with Lucas slide injection, ZF transmission, and disc brakes vented on the front, solid in the rear. Ford rear axle with cooler completes the running gear. Also available, but not included, is a Cosworth FVC 1750cc “Twin Cam” with Lucas slide injection. Both engines were built by Savannah Race Engineering. 

The body is completely restored,  with AVO fiberglass fender flares, roll cage, working lights, and fuel cell. The re-paint is the Ermine white body and black hood, which replicates the original paint scheme. BBS wheels complete the picture. 

The car returned to Mont Tremblant, Canada and has been approved by Bob and Brenda Tanner. Trans AM races included Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, Connecticut, Mid-Ohio, and numbers 1st in class and overall wins throughout the east coast.

The car will be sold on a bill of sale, no title, not for street use.
