1965 Mercedes 230SL Pagoda presented in Metallic Silver with red leather interior trim and a matching red roof.
This car has been converted for the purpose of participating in Classic Rallies around the world, The car has successfully completed the following rallies,
2018 Himalayan Challenge
2017 Classic Safari Challenge
2017 Samurai Challenge
This Mercedes was restored by renowned Classic Mercedes Specialists Silchester Garage in 2012. Invoices in the history file show various works carried out by Silchester Garage to the bodywork to ensure it was perfectly restored, the car was then treated with rustproofing and spray underseal applied. An electric fan was installed along with an sump guard. Invoices on file from Silchester Garage total circa £20,000.
Servicing was carried out by both Silchester Garage and Roger Thomas Mercedes up to 2017.
Then in 2018 the car was sent to Rob Kitchen at Norfolk Classic and Sportscars Ltd who installed a new Manual 6 speed gearbox and carried out various works in preparation for the upcoming rallies, this work included :-
New timing chain
Cylinder head removed and refurbished, Strip bottom end of engine and rebuild.
New fuel pump
Bespoke Roll Cage manufactured and installed.
Bespoke Aluminium Fuel tank manufactured and installed in the boot.
New rear wheel bearings
Installation of CIBIE spot lights
twin coils installed.
New fuel pump.
New coil springs
New Rear brake hoses
The above work carried out at a cost of £10542.55
On completion of the 2018 Himalayan Rally the car was sent back to Norfolk Classic and Sportscars to be prepared for the 2019 "Peking to Paris" rally but the owner decided to use his Bentley 4.5 Litre instead of the Mercedes. So although it was fully prepared it was never used in the P2P rally.

New propshaft flexi joint
Front subframe mounting replaced
New engine mountings
New brake pads
Suspension stripped shot blasted painted and reassembled.

the above work carried out at a cost of £6200.80
Other modifications include :- Schroth Racing Harnesses, Fire Extinguisher, oversize wheels.
The car is supplied with all invoices for the above works and a matching hardtop which was also refurbished.
This is a perfect car for someone looking to participate in Classic rallying who does not want the expense of having a car "prepared" this car has been prepped and maintained regardless of the cost.
The previous keeper has owned this car for the last 7 years.
