Quaife / TSR Sequential Gearkit for Volkswagen 02M & 02Q Gearboxes

Developed by Quaife in partnership with TSR Performance, the QKE6V 5-speed sequential gearkit is engineered as a direct replacement for Volkswagen 02M and 02Q transmissions.

At TSR Performance, we are currently running this gearbox in our own race cars in endurance events ranging from 45-minute sprint races through to 2-hour endurance races, giving us genuine real-world experience with the platform under extreme conditions.

Our current applications include:

• MQB Audi A3 race car
• Audi TT 2.0 TFSI race car

Both vehicles are successfully running the QKE6V on standard OEM engine ECUs.

The gearbox can be configured to run with either:

• Geartronics paddle shift system
• Traditional sequential gear lever with load cell

Designed to retain the original gearbox mounting points and driveshaft positions, installation is straightforward with no chassis modifications required—making fitment no more complex than replacing the original transmission.

The QKE6V converts the factory 6-speed gearbox into an ultra-strong 5-speed sequential transmission, using five wider-than-standard gears to create a significantly stronger heavy-duty drivetrain solution for high-performance road, track, drag, and rally applications.

Power & Torque Capacity

One of the most common questions we get is:

How much power will it handle?

There is no simple fixed answer, because torque—not horsepower—is what destroys gearboxes.

Transmission loading varies massively depending on vehicle setup and intended use. For example, a 4WD vehicle running slick tyres will generate significantly higher drivetrain shock loads than a 2WD road car on conventional tyres.

With this in mind, the QKE6V was engineered with durability as the priority:

• Extra-wide gear profiles for increased load capacity
• Manufactured from EN39 aircraft-grade steel
• Proven in circuit racing applications at 700Nm+
• Proven in drag racing applications exceeding 1000Nm

Because application variables differ so widely, no official maximum torque figure is specified.

Assembly & Availability

Each gearbox is professionally assembled by Quaife Engineering or TSR Performance.

Gearkits are not supplied separately as DIY kits.

For 4WD applications, the original transfer box is retained.
