Lola-bodied Lotus 'Special'
A truly unique road racer. The period lines of the genuine Lola Mk1 body (circa 1961) are finished in maroon paintwork, good overall condition with age-related character.
The spaceframe chassis supports Lotus mechanicals, BRM-badged twincam with drysump, Tranex gearbox and an LSD to create a well mannered car that is rapid, great fun to drive and always admired.
It's registered as a 1972 Lotus "Sports" with insurer-agreed description of a "Lotus Elan Hybrid Coupe" which costs peanuts. Road tax is zero.
Modifications include an Aldon Amathyst mappable ignition system and Momo removable wheel, but all original parts are included in the sale including a period Lola-badged wooden wheel (which my legs didn't fit under).
Building a house, a thriving business and ageing relatives consume all of my time which means this great car has covered pitifully few miles since coming into my ownership. So its regrettably time for a new enthusiast to take charge.
Viewing by arrangement. I live NW of Bristol between the M4/M48 Severn bridges, 10 mins from the M5 (Cribbs Causeway). Offers over £25,000 invited.
Separately for sale I also have a Brian James Minno trailer (including forward mounted steel spares box, currently removed), four ratchet straps and a pair of freshly restored, gleaming twin-40 Weber carbs.
I'm happy to answer questions to genuine enquiries, provide more photos and go for a test drive. Yes there are always jobs that could be done on a car of this type and age, but everything is accessible, parts are available and this is half the fun of ownership.
