PRG Prosporter XW with facility to transport 1 or 2 cars

The base trailer (Prosporter XW) was manufactured by PRG in 2014.

I purchased the trailer direct from PRG and in the last 2 months commissioned them to convert it to be able to carry two cars, along with additional tyre racks and storage etc to enable maximum ease of use and versatility.

The Prosporter is a superbly designed and engineered trailer and undoubtedly the best of the many types and makes of trailer that I have owned over the years.

The loading bed area of the base trailer is 5.8m x 2.26m.

Maximum Gross Weight is 3500kgs.

The modifications over a standard Prosporter are :

• Two large side doors and two access hatches on BOTH sides of the trailer.

• Hydraulic lift to enable one car to be lifted to enable a second car to be loaded if desired. The design of this lift means that the trailer can also be used to transport a single car with the same ease.

• The hydraulic pump to operate the lift is operated by a 12 volt motor, controlled via a remote wander lead control or by a manual lever as a backup. [A video of the operation of this lift can be seen on the PRG website]

• Two side mounted tyre racks that can take 8 wheels each and also be folded up out of the way if not required.

• Very large under floor mounted storage bin for spares etc

• Provision to store 4 x 20 litre jerry cans

• Superwinch 5000 S 12 volt electric winch and remote wander lead control

• Dedicated 12 volt battery which is charged via the vehicle when being towed and used to operate the hydraulic lift pump, winch and internal LED lighting.

• There is also an Anderson plug fitted to enable an additional battery to be used if required.

• Internal LED lights the full length of both sides of the trailer.

• Gas strut assisted rear door / ramp, which makes the operation of the ramp extremely easy  - no more bad backs !

• Assistor ramps, which combined with the tilt bed operation of the trailer and large rear door means that even the very lowest of cars can be loaded with absolute ease.

• Winterhoff hitch for increased stability

• Dampers on both axles for increased stability and to enable higher tow speeds to be legally used in Europe.

• 13 pin electrics to enable charging of the trailer battery plus reverse lights etc.

• Front and side marker lights are LED.

• Correct, fully approved Winterhoff hitch lock that enables quick and easy locking of the trailer when attached to the tow vehicle or when in storage.

It tows extremely well and is undoubtedly the most stable trailer that I have ever towed.

In my own optinion, the quality of the engineering and materials is FAR better than the Brian James trailers I have.

All tyres are in good condition with lots of tread, including the spare.

The trailer has just been fully serviced by PRG and is in as new condition, (indeed the two car modifications and tyre racks etc are brand new !!)

It has a full set of keys for all of the doors (all of which lock).

It wants for nothing but someone to hook up to it and use it.

Please note that the positioning of the car lift is designed at present for the foot print of a Caterham or similar car, but this can be easily modified to suit different wheel bases if required.

The only reason for sale is that since commissioning the work at PRG there has been a significant change in our plans for next year and this trailer is one is no longer going to be used, hence offered for sale.
