1979 Porsche 935
1979 Porsche 935
This beautifully restored race ready Porsche 935 project started in 1979 with a privateer American based IMSA team who commissioned Dave Klym and FABCAR to build a Porsche 935 for American based IMSA competition.
It is believed that Klym contracted Interscope racing and Porsche motor sports to purchase all factory parts necessary to complete this project.
The FABCAR build took extensive time to complete as the cash flow from the privateer team became a problem and eventually the project was finished 4 years later. By that time , the evolution of the 935 was being phased out in favor of the 962.
Unfortunately this wonderful car never saw any actual IMSA competition once it was completed. It has however seen tremendous historic racing in America including multiple appearances at the Monterey Historics, Daytona historics , Rennsport Reunion at Daytona and Monterey.
The car has a fresh 3.0 Litre factory flat fan twin turbo motor which had a complete rebuild By former Interscope engine builder Drew Slayton. Upside down factory 935 transmission. This is the original drivetrain purchased for the car by FABCAR in 1979. Titanium axles, big Porsche factory brakes, complete factory fuel system and fuel cell, Porsche 935 suspension, Porsche 935 center lock hubs with BBS wheels. There is an original lollipop seat with the car although a later model seat has been installed for safety purposes. Spectacular Interscope racing Daytona livery has been finished on the car with a museum quality paint job and painted Interscope stripping..
The K3 bodywork is in almost new perfect condition and was completely reconditioned prior to paint .
FIA passport has been renewed and is current .
This is a fantastic opportunity to own or race a fantastic purposeful built period correct 935 at less than half of what factory cars are currently selling for.
Might consider interesting street car partial trade . Can arrange international delivery .
Also have a supply of 935 parts availiible at additional cost.
