1995 Colin McRae Subaru Championship winning car

Description:

Chassis number PRO/STI/94022 (L555 BAT) was prepared in January 1995 for Colin McRae to use in his 1995 WRC Championship campaign. The car finished a test and shakedown at MIRA on 13th Jan 1995 and completed two events that year, Rally Monte Carlo Jan 1995 where it unfortunately received a DNF and Tour de Corse May 1995 coming in at 5th place.

Following its Works usage period the car was fully re-freshed and finished in White and sold and operated by Prodrive Allstars Frederic Dor with his most notable result being 6th in the 1997 Safari rally as plate L200 FDD.

In 2019 the car was fully inspected by Prodrive legends and its provenance was confirmed, and indeed deemed ‘Unique’ in its originality on Prodrives detailed report (available on request) .

After various discussions between the current owner and Prodrive it was agreed that the car should be restored back to its original Colin McRae Monte Carlo specification.

The car was next subject to an extensive 2 year £165,000 full bare period restoration by Talos Vehicles and Jamie Hope of JHD LTD. The engine/gearbox differentials and suspension were sent to Howard and his team at AutoSportif Engineering and the livery applied by 'Sticky' Dave Campbell who stickered up the vehicle originally, including his original mistakes!!

The finished article was unveiled at The Knockhill McRae Rally challenge in July 2022, since then the car has covered a demonstration day at Donnington August 2022, taken part in Rally Legends San Marino 2023 and a rally test day Jan 2024.
