Description:

1400cc  ‘A’ series Mini Engine and gearbox, full professional rebuild with carbs.

Engine and gearbox components are as follows.

Block – Late Metro 1275 thick deck thick walled block. Oil gallery plugs removed, galleries rodded and pressure blasted. Offset bored and plateau honed to 74mm. Headface skimmed to give 0.7mm squish. Jig drilled for 11 stud head format. New camshaft bearings. Tappet housings checked (all good). All threads cleaned and checked. Chemically cleaned inside and out. New gallery plugs.

Crankshaft –  Late 1275 rolled radius crank. Reground and polished 10/10. Alignment checked. Separately balanced by Swaymar (certificate provided).

Pistons – New Johnspeed low expansion 74mm diameter 3 ring with 7cc dish. New pins. Balanced to 1 gram.

Con rods – Selected Metro type, lightened, stress relieved and end to end balanced to 1 gram. New big end nuts.

New main bearings, big ends and thrust washers.

Camshaft – New high torque shaft specified by Mountune and produced by Kent Camshafts.

New cam followers. Duplex timing gear with new chain and tensioner system

New oil pump.

Primary gear shimmed to 4 thou clearance, Idler gear shimmed to 3 thou clearance.

Head – MG Metro drilled for 11 stud head pattern. Professionally ported and gas flowed having 35.6mm inlets and 30mm exhausts on lead free seats. New guides, New stem seals, New double valve springs. Skimmed block face to set CR at 11.3

New rocker shaft with rebushed refaced rockers.

Flywheel lightened and balanced by Swaymar as a separate unit.

New clutch assembly balanced by Swaymar as a separate unit. New driven plate.

New oil filter. New oil cooler take off unions. New oil filler cap. New oil pressure sender. All new gaskets and oil seals throughout. New engine mountings.

Distributor rebuilt 23 D pattern (zero spindle play) with new 32 ounce points, new condenser, new cap, new leads and plugs.

New water pump. . New heater take off valve. New temperature sender.

Gearbox – Rod change type fully stripped and chemically cleaned inside and out. No wear found to gears. Assembled on new bearings throughout with new synchros and all seals/gaskets. Perfect selectors. Speedo drive gearing to suit your application.

Differential – 3.11 ratio, New diff pin and bearings shimmed to give 3 thou preload.

Carburation – Pair of rebuilt HS4 SUs with suitable needles on rare Works inlet manifold with linkage. Note carb needles may need attention  to fine tune the unit.

Preengage starter motor (recently overhauled)

Engine painted in 3 coats or high temperature enamel, Rocker cover in black high temp. crackle finish.

This engine has been specified to give sufficient torque to enable high speed cruising coupled with a power spread to provide strong acceleration throughout the rev range. It can be fitted to all Minis but advise to be for later models with disc brakes.
