Delivered new on 01/12/2007, this 130i has been extensively modified for track use by a prominent car collector and racer to practice in. A literal no-expense-spared build now sees the car drive unlike any other road-going 1 Series of this era. 

The car has been used and developed on track but is still perfectly adept on the road. Features such as Air Conditioning and cruise control have been retained. The vendor has always driven the car to track days (as far afield as Spa!) so has not gone “too far” with the build or made the car too raw. 

The build was carried out by our friends over at Charles Gates Racing. They began by sourcing a low mileage, manual 130i in the best condition possible with lots of service history. 

They set about a number of upgrades including (but not limited to):

• Bilstein B16 Coilovers
• Uprated brakes
• Uprated H&R roll bars and bushes
• Removal of the majority of the interior
• Rear half roll cage
• New Cobra bucket seats and harnesses (original seat belts still in place too for road use)
• OMP steering wheel
• Lightweight alloy wheels
• New Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres
• Diff from 130i Auto fitted (better ratio for tack use with manual gearbox)
• Lightweight flywheel
• Uprated clutch
• Bonnet vents
• Quaife Limited Slip Differential

The car wants for nothing but driving, and driving hard. In the right hands, it will easily embarrass Caymans, Elises and even it’s cousin the E46 M3 on track. 

There are no annoying rattles or shakes from the interior and it is genuinely still comfortable enough to use on the road. All in all, a great package.
