Lightweight Matter Mk2 Golf competition rolling shell
One-off opportunity to acquire a lightweight, unstamped-VIN, seam welded, non-undersealed ex-David Sutton Motorsport / VW Motorsport UK shell as supplied new for competition. Ideal basis to prepare now for future historic competition.
Surplus brackets all absent. All apertures neatly welded up.
This has only ever been a competition car. Stealth Motorsort acquired it believed new/unused around 1999/ 2000. Then it was Frazero-race prepared and driven in the VW Cup in 2001 by Mark Hope (pictured in white, advert said 'one season old') and then raced subsequently by Craig Inskip.
Matter Motorsport steel cage, 1987 label and cage foot stamp, dating preparation. Disctinctive rear cage design corresponds with period media. Cage welded in for VW Cup prep in 2001 with additional bars/gussets but is bolt-in, in original design. Can either be left as is, or removed and the shell used as a basis for a ground up lightweight build.
Currently sitting on 5-stud running gear (ie Mk3 Golf wishbones, uprights and front roll bar). Comes with fibreglass bonnet and boot plus two sets of Speedline Golf VR6 wheels. Can also be supplied with 4 stud axle (only) parts.
Price negotiable within reason. More pictures on request. Not to be confused with a road car bodyshell. Engine, gearbox and other period / non period parts also available by separate negotiation.
Cash on collection only. Overseas enquiries welcome. Based in Kent, UK so easy for Channel ferry / tunnel.
