This Superlight R400 race car represents just what great "bang for buck" Caterham can offer when it comes to having a track bound missile. To buy a track prepared car which will offer the lap time this R400 will, will inevitably cost vastly more, both the buy and to run. But perhaps more importantly, the "smile factor" offered here is difficult to beat anywhere, no matter what your budget.

Caterhams are renowned the world over for their sharp and intuitive handling characteristics, and this might just be about as good as they ever got. The K-Series engine has long been regarded by many as the engine of choice when it comes to the lightweight nature of a Caterham. When tuned to somewhere near 200bhp, in a perfectly balanced car scrapping under the 500kg mark on the scales, you have a tremendous recipe for fun.

Anyway, enough about how good these are on paper. This slightly scruffy looking Superlight may look tired, but it has a lot of life to give. The engine was built in 2006 by Dave Andrews of DVA performance and has only run for around 15 hours since then.

It spent most of 2006 and 2007 campaigning in the 750 Motor Club "7 Series" where it made the podium at almost every outing. Since then, it has only used for one or two events a year, with its last outing at Anglsey in 2017.

As a car, although almost every panel is dented or scuffed, it is in excellent running condition and is fully FIA compliant should someone wish to take it straight to a race weekend.

There are several racing series this car would be eligible for, including the CSCC Magnificent 7's, 750 Motor Club's Sports Specials and MSVR's All Commers to name but a few.

Here is a link to a video of this car in action at it's second to last outing at Cadwell park in the summer of 2015: As an out and out race car, this vehicle is sold as seen and cannot tested or warranted. However, viewings and inspections are warmly welcomed.
