Ferrari 250 TR Gearbox

Numbered: 547, No. 1, made from magnesium; the also known as 'offset' or 'barrel type' gearbox tipo 532D was used in most racing-Ferraris from the late 50s and early 60s, this special indirect drive Colotti designed unit allowed the engine to be moved about 4 inches to the left to compensate for the weight of the driver on the right hand side; this is the spare gearbox casing of 250 TR/61 #0792 which won the 12h of Sebring in 1961 and 1962, the number '547' on the gearbox specifies the chassis the gearbox is meant for, the number '1' specifies chassis #0792 compared to '2' for #0794; the casing comes from the collection of Count Giovanni Volpi di Misurata who previously owned #0792 and the Scuderia Serenissima for which the car started from the end of 1961 on, today #0792 resides in the Ralph Lauren Collection; the casing is in undamaged and untouched condition; extremly rare
