Porsche 914/4 1972
After much soul searching and deliberation I have finally come to the conclusion that I am simply not going to have time race my 1972 914/4 over the coming years due to other projects and family commitments so I have decided to sell.
I originally imported the car in 2010 from the US as a race car that was originally built to participate in Porsche Club of America race events. The car was run for a number of years in the PCA before the previous owner bought the car and used it in Auto testing events in the New York Area. When I purchased the car the intention was to develop the car for Historic Racing/Rallying in the UK.
Once the car arrived in the UK work began preparing the car for Historic Circuit racing. No expense has been spared throughout the build.
I have run the car in the HSCC, 70s Road Sport and the car has HSSC papers for the series although I have also run the car in CSCC Swinging 60s a Donnington in HSCC trim.
Spec for the car are as follows;
The car has been dry stored for most of its life there are no signs of corrosion in any of the problem areas for a 914. The car has a few minor dents and imperfections that would be expected for race car of this age. Car looks great from 6 ft.
Chassis Strengthening kit installed that covers the rear arch and suspensions console.
Autopower roll cage has been installed whilst in the States. I had to make slight modifications to mounting points etc. to make MSA compliant. The Cage is tied in to rear suspension towers to aid stiffness - I have an FIA spec bolt in roll cage that I am selling separately.

Originally assembled in 2012 and then freshened up (new bearings etc) in 2015 when I upgraded the heads, changed the Cam shaft and changed to JE flat top Pistons to up the compression ratio to try and get the most out of the engine. Compression ratio is now 9.7, I didn’t want to push this up much further as I was planning on maybe doing a few endurance events in the future.
Since the rebuild the I have completed one very wet race at Donnington in 2016, where I managed to get on the fastest lap roster but had a few offs to say th least !.

Brand new castings . The heads were part finished (Welding etc.) in the US then Stateside Tuning did fine machining and added the following...
44x38 valve sized, special 911 style welded exhaust ports, chromoly valve seats, 3 angle seat machine, top hat valve guides, titanium spring retainers, special stateside tuning valve springs shimmed to suit camshaft, fully ported and polished incl match intake manifolds.
